Winona LaDuke is a rural development economist who has spent many years working on energy policy and energy self sufficiency in Native America. She lives and works on the White Earth Reservation. A graduate of Harvard and Antioch Universities, she has authored five books. Ms. LaDuke is currently the Executive Director of the White Earth Land Recovery Project, as well as the Executive Director of the Honor the Earth Fund, a national Native American foundation, both in Northern Minnesota. Today, Ms. LaDuke is known for her work in reconnecting the bonds between local food and culture in Native American communities. She speaks extensively on the importance of sustainable development, renewable energy, and food systems.
